The Four Chairs Project is an interactive audio exhibit featuring oral histories of four women focusing on different stages in their lives. Their stories are divided into four themes: Motherhood, Relationships, Career, and Empty Nest, depicted in the exhibit by a “room” with a representative chair for the listener to sit in while engaging with the audio stories.
It started as a fieldwork project when I was a student at Columbia University's Masters of Arts in Oral History program, and was featured at Columbia’s Inside Voices Exhibit. It is available as a traveling installation for women’s groups and other community institutions.
Meet Catherine, Jennifer, Karen and Diane, four women of different ages and stages of life, and listen to their stories of Motherhood, Relationships, Careers, and Empty Nesting.
